Playboy to launch first ‘MetaMansion’ at The Sandbox

Playboy to launch first 'MetaMansion' at The Sandbox

Playboy is getting deeper and deeper into the Metaverse. This time, through the Sandbox, it will launch its virtual mansion. The fact that this is happening during a bear market makes for considerable optimism.

Expanding horizons

According to the announcement, published on Monday, July 11, Playboy is set to launch the “Meta Mansion.” This will be a virtual mansion created in The Sandbox space. A number of attractions are to be prepared for the community that wishes to stay there. Among others there will be games, events and programs. There will also be elements related to the distribution of non-exchangeable NFT tokens.

The Sandbox platform itself informed on this occasion that still in the ongoing quarter users will be able to purchase plots of land adjacent to the “MetaMansion”. Looking historically, demand could be significant. Recall that last December $450,000 was paid for Snoop Dogg’s neighborhood.

The perks of engaging such a big brand as Playboy are highlighted in his statement by Sebastien Borget, chief operating officer and co-founder of The Sandbox:

“Playboy is emblematic of its charm, lifestyle and entertainment content, which has transcended generations and which has already entered Web3 with early success.”

Playboy’s next step in NFT

For Playboy, the construction of “MetaMansion” is not its first foray into the crypto industry. Back in October 2021, the brand released a collection of 11,953 tokenized rabbit avatars, forming the Playboy Rabbitars NFT project. Each of the NFTs sold for about $800. All their owners will soon gain access to exclusive experiences in the virtual residence. More detailed information about this has not yet been disclosed.

At the time of this writing, the price of the NFT Rabbitar on OpenSea is 0.19 ETH, a drop of 74.25% since launch day.

Another experience Playboy can boast of is the launch of a set of layouts via Nifty Gateway. This took place last April. Officially, this was the first step that Playboy took in the blockchain segment.

Building during a bear market a bullish signal for growth

It has been known for a long time that a bear market is a time when many projects undergo strong vetting. Those that take advantage of this time for development confirm their value. Although Playboy is not a blockchain project, it follows the same pattern. The fact that “MetaMansion” is being developed during a bull market indicates that Playboy is here to stay for the long term. Short-term hype and quick profits are not something that brand representatives would be interested in.
