Online gaming platform Roblox, with a huge community of more than 200 million monthly active users, is introducing a new payment method. From now on, players can use XRP, the Ripple digital currency.
XRP ahead of chance for much wider adoption
The XRP cryptocurrency behind Ripple, is facing the chance to reach a huge number of users it wasn’t initially targeting. The changes were announced by BitPay in its announcement on X (Twitter) on Tuesday, October 17. In doing so, the company points to significant branches of cooperation:

Xsolla is now accepting XRP (Ripple) from BitPay as a payment method for its games, such as Smitegame and Roblox. You can use your favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play and enjoy games like never before.”
Now, with the support of Xsolla, which manages in-game payments on Roblox, the XRP payment option is available to all enthusiasts. BitPay, meanwhile, will provide a seamless connection to cryptocurrency wallets as a partner.
Roblox’s huge reach
Roblox is available on popular systems such as Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, attracting 65.5 million daily active users, as many as 44% of whom are under the age of 13. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, gamers spent a total of about $773 million on in-game purchases.
Xsolla is actively pursuing the integration of cryptocurrencies into its own payment system. In August 2022, it partnered with Coinchange Financial, an automated cryptocurrency management platform, and TradeZing, a live streaming Web3 social platform, to create an innovative payment solution for non-convertible tokens. In addition, in August 2023, Xsolla joined forces with Crypto.com exchange to integrate that company’s cash solution with Xsolla’s Pay Station platform.
The partnership between Xsolla and BitPay goes all the way back to 2014, when the platform began accepting payments in Bitcoine (BTC). The latest step is the introduction of PayPal USD (PYUSD) payments in September 2023, which became available to merchants and consumers alike. This innovative change is transforming the payment landscape in the online gaming world and giving players more options than ever before.
XRP with no particular reaction to new reports
Despite the fantastic news, the price of XRP has not reacted. The value of the coin is oscillating slightly below the psychological limit of $0.50, while high above an important support zone, marked by a gray rectangle on the chart. At the same time, the indicators do not show any particular signals for further movement.
