Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Satoshi Nakamoto

The world’s biggest cryptographic mystery remains unsolved to this day. It is speculated whether Satoshi Nakamoto is a single person or perhaps the name of an entire team of programmers. So let’s take a look at what are the most popular scenarios regarding the identity of Bitcoin’s creator.

The investigation provides some direction

Discovering the real identity of Nakamoto has been the goal of many journalists. There have been many ways to pursue the truth. Few, however, were reliable analyses. In November 2020, Doncho Karaivanov presented a report unlike any other. In his opinion, Satoshi Nakamoto was a Londoner. Karaivanov analyzed many factors to come to this conclusion. He noticed that in the content that Satoshi left behind, there are regional colloquialisms and specific spelling of words, reflecting the London dialect. He also saw a connection between The Times newspaper headline set in the genesis block as specific to the British Isles.

A few key names for Satoshi Nakamoto

The above hypothesis is extremely interesting. However, it does not change the fact that the crypto society has picked up a few names that seem to be particularly troubling. One of them is Hal Finney. He was one of the pioneers of BTC, as well as the recipient of the first Bitcoin-based crypto transaction. In 2004, Finney developed software based on Adam Back’s famous Proof of Work consensus concept. Sadly, Hal Finney passed away on August 28, 2014, as a result of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He thus became a sort of mythical enigma.

Another person suspected of creating the king of cryptocurrencies is American scientist of Hungarian origin Nick Szabo. He is the pioneer of Bit Gold and the originator of smart contracts. However, he has repeatedly denied that he is Satoshi Nakamoto. However, not everyone believes in his words.

Among the people behind whom Nakamoto may be hiding, there are also those who admit that they are him. Craig Wright is the most famous self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin. The Australian Bitcoin Cash programmer and developer has already had the opportunity to try to prove this fact in court. However, these attempts were unsuccessful, making the crypto community not willing to believe him either.

Does Satoshi Nakamoto own a million Bitcoins?

Sometimes we can meet with statements “Bitcoins from Satoshi’s era”. The most common reference then is to crypto assets frozen in cold wallets, dating back to the time when Satoshi Nakamoto personally was a BTC miner. According to various estimates, the wealth of Satoshi’s wallets is within the limits of 700 thousand, up to 1.1 million coins. What is interesting, all of them are completely inactive, and this means that their owner has not sent them anywhere since the day the coins were placed in a safe place for him. Interestingly, if all the BTC accumulated there belonged to Satoshi, then in mid-April, when Bitcoin was reaching its ATH, Nakamoto, still remaining anonymous, would be one of the 20 richest people in the world.
